What’s a painting for? I guess it’s the painter saying, ‘Look here – this is not just ‘ordinary”. ‘Ordinary’ does not exist; things are so very strange. Maybe beautiful, maybe not, but always strange, but a strangeness we so often barely notice. A painting? It’s the painter saying, ‘Look – is it just me, or can you see this too?’
